Donor Cable
The Donor Cable, a bracelet that allows you to siphon power from one smartphone to another.
Y&R Moscow and Nar Mobile have drawn on this battery life/blood donation analogy, creating the Donor Cable, a bracelet that allows you to siphon power from one smartphone to another. While this device has obvious advantages in terms of smartphone usage, the campaign’s main focus is to raise awareness and increase blood donations. The bracelet is inscribed with the phrase ‘Donate energy to save a phone, and donate blood to save a life.’
This cellphone-jumper-cable was created in Azerbaijan in response to the number of children born with the blood disorder Thalassemia, which requires numerous blood transfusions. Nar Mobile started giving Donor Cables away free of charge with any in store smart phone purchase, while blood donation trucks were parked outside the stores during the promotion. So far the campaign has led to a remarkable 335% increase in blood donations for the country.
